Around the world this fall, on the occasion of the Paris climate talks, actors, directors, and playwrights are gathering on the boards to support climate activism in the best way they can: through live performance. Performances around the United States and abroad are taking place throughout the months of November and December, and Portland is no exception. On Tuesday, November 24 th at 7pm at Artists Repertory Theatre, Boom Arts and Artists Rep, together with Theatre Without Borders, will present an evening of short play readings to cultivate conversation and inspire action around climate change. The evening is part of the Climate Change Theatre Action and presented in support of local non-profit 350PDX, a volunteer organization working to build a community grassroots solution to stop climate change.

Portland’s evening will feature brand new plays and excerpts of works on the theme of climate change by local playwrights Noah Dunham (Action/Adventure Theatre), Miriam Feder (PDX Playwrights), and Rich Rubin, presented alongside works by national and international playwrights including Wendy Macleod, Naomi Iizuka, Deborah Asimwe (Uganda), Dipika Guha (India), Chantal Bilodeau, Elaine Avila (Canada), and August Schulenberg. Director Tracy Cameron Francis has organized the evening and will be directing a local cast of theatre community favorites.
