Vorpsiel to People's Climate March: Climate Change Theatre Action
Dramatikkens Hus, Norwegian Centre for new Playwriting
26 november, 17.00- 20.00
Climate Change Theatre Action is a global festival made of concerned playwrights, writers and performers. It is getting dramatically hotter. We can do something about it. Why are we not doing anything?
Climate change is part of a larger narrative. We need to talk. The stories of our time does not hold. We need new ones. This is an attempt to contribute to that.
“Vorspiel to People's Climate March” in Dramatikkens Hus is Norway's contribution to Climate Change Theatre Action.
People's Climate March is happening worldwide on Nov. 28, ahead of the Climate Summit in Paris. Also in Oslo.
Climate Change Theatre Action is playwrights and theater artists on the warpath. 50 texts dealing with climate change from playwrights worldwide have been made available and can be presented in one form or another, free-how. As a reading, stunt, set in an apartment, shouted out on the street, but before or during the meeting in Paris. Some perform texts at the foot of glaciers, others in eco-parks, some Skype them. Whatever one chooses.
In the Norwegian contribution to Climate Change Theatre Action, we meet at the Norwegian Centre for New Playwriting and we read some of the texts that are made available plus we add some distinctive Norwegian voices including meteorologist Rasmus Benestad and poet Inger Elisabeth Hansen who just released the highly acclaimed book "Å resirkulere lengselen. Avrenning foregår"
