The Global Event of Climate Change Theatre Action

The Vortex Theatre in Albuquerque, New Mexico is sponsoring the Climate Change Theatre Action, a joint initiative from NoPassport, The Arctic Cycle and Theatre Without Borders.

Climate Change Theatre Action is a series of worldwide readings and performances intended to bring awareness to, and foster discussion around, climate change. It was designed in support of the United Nations 2015 Paris Climate Conference (COP21) taking place November 30-December 11, 2015.

A collection of 1-5 minute plays, songs and poems by writers from all six livable continents, curated by Caridad Svich, Chantal Bilodeau and Elaine Avila, has been made available to collaborators worldwide. Over one hundred events ranging from informal readings in classrooms to day-long festivals, from radio programs and film adaptations to site-specific performances at the foot of glaciers, will be held throughout the months of November and December 2015 in over 20 countries.

The cast includes Hembras de Pluma members Michelle Allred, María Herrera, and Bineshi Albert, with Darryl Deloach, Beva Sánchez-Padilla, and Casey Mraz as The Musician. Directed by Valli Marie Rivera.

Linda Lopez McAlister of Camino Real Productions will record the reading for KUNM Radio and broadcast in support of ARTCOP21 conference.

Biologist Robert B. Waide will join us.
